Referendum on Alternative Voting

VOTE NO TO A.V.
The yes campaign are receiving dubious funding for this and are concentrating their argument on the method of voting not the outcome, which they do not want you to know too much about.
I feel the No Campaign is not concentrating on the results. What happens if Yes wins? Nor are they making it clear that only three countries in the world have this system and two of those are trying to get rid of it again. Why? If yes wins so do the top politicians and the people loose.  In other words they can say what they like during the election campaign then the leaders get together in a huddle and decide what they are going to do.
We can do nothing about it and the leaders of the parties stay there forever, just talk to the Italians - They Know.

Labour Threaten Summer Bin Collection!

The recent Labour Manifesto for the Gedling Borough Local Election has failed to state their plans to remove the weekly bin collection during the summer period. They proposed this amendment during the Budget meeting at Gedling Borough Council, but after the overwhelming criticism, I am not surprised that they have failed to be more open about this proposal.

It is disappointing to hear that they are planning to reverse a decision, which the Council made after consulting the public. The general feeling being the fact that residents did not want the waste building up over the period of a fortnight, with the resulting smell and health risks. We intend to continue to promote a healthy and clean environment for the Gedling Borough.

I agree, that as a council we need to be expanding our recycling operation and leading the way on sustainability, but not at the expense of public health!

I want to make it clear that I stand by the weekly collection during the summer months, and I have no plans to remove the current scheme. Instead we, as a council, should be looking at how we can recycle a greater number of household goods and informing everyone of how and what they can recycle to benefit the borough and the environment.
